Tennysen is here!

On June 22, 2010, Todd and I found out we were expecting. It was a huge surprise, but we quickly became excited. After being sick for 20 weeks and being diagnosed with gestational diabetes, we were both ready for a more difficult pregnancy to be over, not to mention we were super excited to meet our precious baby.

Tennysen Meree Wermers was born on February 22, 2011 at 10:52am. She was 8lb 14oz and 20 inches long. And she is perfect.

We came home a couple of days later, so we have been adjusting to life at home with a new baby. She's such a good baby, but she's a very sleepy baby, so a lot of time is spent just trying to wake her up to eat. I had a lot of anxiety about how Eli and Mischa would react to Tennysen. I believe Eli loves Tennysen very much and is so curious about her, but Todd is working really hard with him to teach him the meaning of the word "gentle." He startles her when he bumps her in the head with his nose just because he wants to sniff her. Mischa has really surprised me. She sniffs Tennysen and is very gentle with her. I was surprised because I thought she'd be jealous. She's always been a mama's girl, so I thought that her having to share me would lead to a lot of drama, but so far, so good. She still needs to sit beside me wherever I go, but no hints of jealousy yet. Yay!

It has been so much fun to watch Todd with Tennysen. He loves her so much--he's protective of her; he takes care of her, and even though those are normal expectations of a father, I've never seen him in this role and it's been really fun to watch.

It's really sad that so many of our friends and family live so far away, so I hope to keep this blog up-to-date so that you guys can watch Tennysen grow and hear all the scoop on our new life with her.
